Taking place in May the Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival is a well-established yearly cultural event held right here in Oban. The festival has its own unique and fun Highland atmosphere and comprises its own Festival Fringe and a wide variety or traditional Highland music and dancing.
The Festival of the Sea in Spring celebrates the sea and the rich marine life on Scotland’s west coast. It welcomes children and adults alike and includes talks, workshops, excursions, displays and lots more.
The Argyllshire Gathering is one of the premiere Highland Games in the world and includes some Scottish or World Championships. All the traditional Scottish events are showcased and visitors always experience a truly traditional Scottish atmosphere.
A great fun day out, the annual World Stone Skimming Championships are held on Easdale Island which used to be a major centre for slate mining and the pools that were once part of the mines are perfect for stone skimming.
