Changes to Kerrera Ferry

The ferry between the Isle of Kerrera and Oban which has been running for 22 years has been taken over by Calmac from the previous operator.

Duncan MacEachan ran the ferry (one of the shortest crossings in Scotland) with 3 crewmates for 22 years will continue to work the ferry but as Calmac employees instead of an independent operator.

The ferry will still provide a valuable transport service for the people of Kerrera however the timetable and fares may changes as they are now set by Transport Scotland.

One major change will be the ferry itself. The old ferry, “Gylen Lady”, is still owned by Mr MacEachan but will not be used as the ferry in the long term as a new vessel will come into service later in the summer.
