The Oban Sea Life Sanctuary which lies a few miles to the north of the Manor House had its first admission to its new animal hospital in October.
A common seal pup, later named Ollie by Sea Life Sanctuary staff, was rescued on North Ledaig beach near Oban suffering from exhaustion and seizures.
After some TLC and medical treatment Ollie made a quick recovery even managing a few escapes from his pen was released back into the wild during the first week in November. The Sea Life Sanctuary chose to release him on Ledaig Beach close to a nearby seal colony in the hope that he finds his way back.

Oban Sea Life Sanctuary operates a rescue centre and hospital for seals where treatment is given before the animals are released back to into the wild where possible. As well as caring for sick and injured seals, the Sanctuary welcomes visitors. The facility has a spectacular aquarium and sea life exhibits where visitors can see what life is like in the waters that surround Oban and Scotland’s west coast. There is also an touch pool which is home to dozens of rays and flat fish which provides the daily highlight of being able to feed the fish yourself.
