When staying with us at The Manor House you can not only enjoy our garden, you will find some beautiful gardens that are a short and scenic drive from the hotel. Here are some suggestions.
Ardchattan Priory Garden – 10 miles from the hotel
Ardchattan Priory Garden has existed since the thirteenth century, when the Priory was founded by the monks of the Valliscaulian order. Today’s layout mainly has developed since the Victorian era. Behind the Priory lie the ruins of the chapel, in the care of Historic Scotland. You will discover Magnificent views over Loch Etive to Mull and Ben Cruachan. There is wheelchair access and disabled toilets. Dogs are permitted if on leads.
To get there, head North out of Oban on the A85, cross Connel Bridge on the A828 heading north. First turning right and well signposted.
Ardmaddy Castle Gardens – 13 miles from the hotel
Ardmaddy Castle Gardens, in a most spectacular setting, are shielded to the north by mature woodlands, carpeted with bluebells and daffodils and protected from the Atlantic winds by the elevated Castle. You will find The Walled Garden, Clock Garden and Water Gardens along with a woodland walk.
There is partial wheelchair access and disabled toilets. There are plants for sale and guided tours are available by prior agreement, Dogs are allowed on leads.
To get here take the A816 south of Oban for 8 miles. Turn right at B844 to Seil Island/Easdale. After another 4 miles take Ardmaddy Road.
Kinlochlaich Walled Garden and Woodland Walk – 17 miles from the hotel
These gardens are set in and around Kinlochlaich Walled Garden and were laid out around 1790. There is a walled garden, Spring garden, Bluebell Woodland walk and vegetable and fruit gardens. It also is home to the well known Garden Plant Centre,
To get there, head North out of Oban on the A85, cross Connel Bridge on the A828 heading north. At the village of Appin the entrance is next to the Police Station.
