The terrace at the Manor House Hotel is the ideal spot to enjoy pre-dinner drinks and the fabulous view of Oban and Oban Bay.
We are situated just behind Oban harbour and from some parts of the terrace you can see the fishing boats with and fishermen unloading their catch of the day.
Looking across Oban Bay is Oban’s usually bustling prom thronged with day visitors and travellers from all over the world as part of their exploration of the Scottish Highlands and Isles.
Above the Bay, perched on Battery Hill, is McCaig’s Folly. Its design is based on the Roman Colosseum and was commissioned by local philanthropist John Stuart McCaig in 1897 to be a family monument and also to provide work for local stonemasons during the lean winter months.
The Folly was originally intended to be a museum but McCaig’s death ended the construction and today only the outer walls remain (surrounding a public garden) to provide magnificent views of Oban Bay, Kerrera and Mull beyond.
