2016 sees the world famous paddle steamer Waverley celebrate her 70th anniversary. She’s had an eventful 70 years and since her launch in 1946 and her future was uncertain until 1975 when the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society bought her for £1 pledging to bring her back out of retirement and restore this wonderful vessel as a going concern.
Now, after being full restored to her original glory, Waverley visits Scotland during the summer months and delights thousands of passengers who enjoy some of Scotland’s best scenery as they relax on deck or in one of the lounges with their period fittings.
The Waverley’s Spring 2016 cruises from Oban operate from Tuesday 31st May to 7th June and will take in some of the finest sights on Scotland’s west coast. The itinerary includes:
