The West Coast of Scotland’s largest sailing event, West Highland Yachting Week, celebrates its 69th year in 2016 and runs from Saturday 30th July to Friday 5th August.
Spread out across three venues renowned for sailing (Craobh, Oban and Tobermory), over 750 yachtsmen and women from around the world will enjoy some of the best sailing (and scenery) Scotland has to offer.
It’s not just all sailing though. While the sailing is the focus of the week long event there is also a vibrant programme of social events for the sailors, friends and families. Some of the events taking place in Oban include ceilidhs, live music and entertainment.
So even if you’re not involved in the racing, Oban provides a great opportunity for visitors and those staying in Oban to watch the magnificent sight of dozens of yachts with with their brightly coloured spinnakers sail the waters of Oban Bay and Firth of Lorne.
